This piece was created for the 2006 International Freeform Crochet Challenge.
I so enjoyed making this piece that I wanted to remember many details of its making so I wrote it all down. Be warned: brevity is not my one of my strong suits. I made the dolls first, and then the individual scrumbles, which I joined, and while joining I added quite a bit to give it the shape and detailing I wanted. My piece is interactive in that the dolls can be removed and rearranged; they are tied on through loops on their backs. The dolls can be removed from the piece entirely and their ties are also removable.
