Staircase is a flat doll that hangs on the wall. Her body is made of single crochet in the back loops, as are her limbs. In the body, the color changes with each row. I've been experimenting a lot with single crochet in the back loops and find it to be surprisingly adaptable, both in terms of coloring and texture. If you change color each row, alternate rows end up showing less on the right side of the work, which is useful if you have a fiber that is best when it is more understated. Staircase must be a little dizzy with that spiral face. Nothing in particular inspired that -- I was just playing with spirals in the same tones as the staircase body and thought, "oh, that could be a head!" and so it is.
