Black Freeform Lace Shawl

This cotton shawl was inspired by Myra Wood's book Creative Crochet Lace: A Freeform Look at Classic Crochet. I worked on it during much of the summer of 2008 and finished it in November 2008. It was a good take-along project for the summer because I could take a very small tote bag, a ball or two of yarn, a couple of hooks and scissors and work on patches here, there, and everywhere (such as during my daughter's swimming class). It wasn't until fall that I began to piece it together. The shaping is based on this shawl that I made; I like the way it drapes, but wanted something solid black that would go with everything, and when I read Myra's book I had an "aha" moment. Finished November 2008.
